Anyone remember this guy? Jack Sato hard at work!
Jack was the station's translator/interpreter. Photo was
taken between April 76 and April 77.
These pages remember the Coastguardsmen who served aboard Coast Guard LORAN Station Hokkaido, Japan. Much of the information on these pages was collected from across the internet. We are particularly interested in photos of the station and the men who served. Semper Paratus - Ron Borison CDR, USCG (Ret)
I became nostalgic and went searching for the Loran stations I had been on, when I googled this page.
ReplyDeleteJack was there and I wonder whom took the picture of him. Because I served there during the time the picture was taken.
I remember Jack as being the one person with few words yet he was very high with integrity.
He was a man of his word. And I liked him very much.
James Croft ET3 USCG
Yes - Jack Sato was a man of very high integrity. I could not have had the successful year that I had without his help.

Wow, I just stumbled across this, and it sent shivers up my spine. I was stationed there with Jack in 1976 and am in the group photo, front row on the right. Thanks for the flashback.

ah good times. I loved the story about Jack being a Kamikaze pilot in training when the war ended. He damn near had us buy out the Class Six store and bring back a set of golf clubs on an R&R down to Yokota.
